Happy International Women’s Day

Posted on March 8, 2019November 20, 2021 by chefswifediary

To be seen, to be heard, to be considered.

The yearn for a voice to be heard in a kingdom of men, to be seen in a boardroom dominated by male delegates, and to be considered among sea of talents in an organisation ……………are painful.

Prior to the first century, we witnessed leadership championed by remarkable women who changed the world namely Cleopatra (69 BCE–30 BCE) and Mary Magdalene (4 BCE–40BCE). More legacies continue with the emergence of women leadership across different areas, ie: Coco Chanel in fashion career, Marilyn Monroe and Audrey Hepburn in acting arena, Margaret Thatcher in politics, and more to come. Their impact were phenomenal.

It took a while before society started to acknowledge the evolution of women’s roles in organisations, realising women’s impeccable capabilities beyond domestic responsibilities and honour sharing equal responsibilities between men and women. As much as men can accomplish, women can be given a fair chance to accomplish too.

Having said that, the road ahead will still be painful before society fully decodes gender equality. To be heard, to be seen, and to be considered require supports. All we, women need is to be persistent, brave, and confident in having an opinion and ‘fighting’ spirit. At least, we should be proud for making a mark today.

8th March 2019 – The world is celebrating “International Women’s Day” together with us, taking a moment to appreciate women’s existence and sacrifices.
