Catching up with my toddler.

Posted on January 30, 2024April 21, 2025 by chefswifediary

If you have been following my blog, you will see that my recent posts are related to chapters of motherhood. Yes, I’m on maternity leave since November 2023. What else I could be writing? As my newborn is coming to two and half months old now, my first born baby girl isn’t slowing down in her development either. A glimpse of an eye, I am starting to accept the fact that she is no longer a baby, and there is a lot to do in catching up with my toddler.

It is a strange feeling. Before my second child, all I saw was a baby girl in front of me. My partner and I channeled all efforts to just one child. Today, it is all about sharing love between the two of them. As soon as I add another child to our family equation, my baby girl seems so big now. What happened in the last two and half years? Gone by just like that, I realised I haven’t reflected much on the past two and half years journey.

I am not being lazy in doing reflection blogging. A working mother, juggling between work and family is my life. I needed to compose and focus on what I set out to do: managing expectation of myself, my toddler, partner, family and friends. Time is my biggest challenge. Focusing on being my very best at present means there is little time to reflect. Most days, it is all about “just do it.”

In just two and half months, I feel like I’ve been missing out so much on my first born amidst trying to get through first three months with a newborn. My first born who is three months away to three years old now, she is the only girl in her Little Kickers class today, kicking football like a superstar with no shyness. She is also the youngest student at her Kumon centre, counting with her little bubba fingers like an expert. Everyday, she floods me and her sibling with love gestures, expresses how much she loves her family. I am so touched with her pure kindness and proud of her curiosity and determination to achieve the unknown.

Catching up with my toddler, I can only see more pleasant surprises to come with my first born, especially transiting from the only child to a child with a sibling.
