When do you feel most productive?

Posted on May 1, 2025May 1, 2025 by chefswifediary

When do I feel most productive? Achieving little wins is when I feel most productive. These days, we are easily drown by influx of information, leaving us with millions of possibilities and creating unnecessary self-doubts. We spend so much time thinking only to find ourselves making no decision. This is especially true in a corporate matrix setting where long chain of command and multiple stakeholders management are relevant.

Imagine having many cooks in a kitchen searching for the definite recipe with little room given for mistakes. One can become overly prudent and fearful in making decision. The truth is, there isn’t a perfect recipe. It is a combination of skills, knowledge and time to perfect a dish. I find successful projects rarely come by in a short span of time. If projects do not provide any positive outcome, how can I feel productive?

To keep up with momentum, celebrating little wins matter. These can come in the form of productive discussion or progressive action plan at any time. Anything that moves me a step closer towards achieving goals. Practice makes progress is as good as feeling productive does. While we cannot get everyone to agree at similar pace, we can certainly collect little wins like these to feel productive, continue motivating ourselves and influencing others.

Small wins are still won, and the journey is more important than overnight success. ― Bill Watterson
