How do you feel?

Posted on February 9, 2020 by chefswifediary

Feelings are abundance. Sometimes candid, sometimes strange. Hardly ever stop and impossible to capture. Often overlooked, they are effortlessly presumed. Come and go like swoosh in the wind, condensing feelings without any effort in recognising them can only lead to one word, ‘complicated’.

“Is it really possible to tell someone else what one feels?”
― Leo Tolstoy, Anna Karenina

Feelings are best to be expressed, so most say. Writing, music, and art are the common mediums of expression. Most say, good news deserved celebrations. Some say, bad news require sharing. With sharing comes empathy. With empathy relationship continues to exist.

Feelings influence how we think and what we do. Feelings carry us away when we least expect, or without us knowing. Whether it’s happiness or sadness, they are capable in influencing our actions and behaviours. Whilst some prefer to confine own actions and behaviours, they do anyhow affect others around them. Not to mention ignorance.

Pause, observe, and synthesise the random feelings that occur from our surroundings. The more we acknowledge our feelings, the better we are in understanding how we honestly feel. Instead of jumping into conclusion abruptly, we could possibly enhance self-awareness and increase sensitivity towards others.

It doesn’t always have to be just about us. Simply acknowledging good news from a friend can elevate positive feelings for all too. It works both ways.

“The best and most beautiful things in the world cannot be seen or even touched. They must be felt with the heart” ― Helen Keller
