A new beginning.

Posted on January 3, 2022July 11, 2024 by chefswifediary

Happy New Year! Which writer would want to miss writing a post in the first week of new year? A new beginning, many have eminently recapped what 2021 means for them and hoping for a better 2022.

2021, a recovery year as we tried to regain strength, pick ourselves up, and strive for some level of normality after the chaos brought forward from the years before. It was the year when we saw resilience in us, adapting to changing lifestyle, accepting tech as a part of life and realising family values more than ever. Most of all, we are thankful to have survived challenging times.

We were so engrossed into having a better tomorrow that all we wanted was to pass all the bad days so that the good days will come sooner. With fear of losing loved ones and cautious way of living since pandemic, everything seemed so short-lived. It made us appreciate moments though little. At least, a conservative way of celebrating Christmas and New Year at the end of last year would be a long-lived memory. And just like that, 2021 became a history.

2022

A bullish year as we learned our lessons from the past and adapted to new way of living, we establish new hopes and dreams.

Perhaps yesterday was about materialism and today is about minimalism. Before, possession of latest invention from designer labels, career with high paycheck, or flying glamorously across different cities were appetising. Today, we strive beyond these extrinsic motivations in achieving self-fulfillment. We look inside and dig deeper into our purpose and understand what truly motivates us from within. We want something that will last for a lifetime. Perhaps health and safety supersede the unnecessary possessions, work-life balance for happiness, or sustainability is the new new? Easier said than done, we want to feel sense of belonging and accomplishment from within, a long term mission that only self or individual can make it happen not by purchasing it over the counter.

From recovery to a bullish brand new year, self-fulfillment requires bullish trade-offs. Ditching old habits, making hard life choices, or doubling self-awareness effort could be one of those. Mainly subjective, eventually they are mindset achievements that can only be felt, not touch. Achievements that will make us feel good and live happier.

A new beginning, what is your motivation for 2022?
